Enviroschool Tent
On Friday 14th November some of our Enviroschool team helped to man the 'Enviroschool tent' at Thyme Festival. Well done Phoebe, Emma and Vanessa who told the public about our new Bokashi composting system that we have introduced into our classrooms.
Brianna and Neave did a fantastic job of sharing our schools 'Enviroschools journey'. I was impressed with how you both grew in confidence each time you shared.
Brianna and Neave also talked about the wonderful skink they helped create during a Thyme Festival art workshop. The skink was later auctioned and sold to the highest bidder.
Steve Brown, the Enviroschools Co-ordinator, made seed bombs with our girls. We are going to find some special places to throw the seed bombs and hopefully spread a little bit of colour into our surroundings.

Junior School - Wastebusters Visit
This morning we visited Wastebusters and learnt about recycling.
Have you ever noticed the numbers on the bottom of your plastic containers? They are inside a triangle. These numbers indicate the different types of plastic. Number 1: soft drink bottles, honey jars etc can be recycled into pillow and sleeping bag filling. Number 2: Milk bottles can be made into recycling bins.
Number 5: Yoghurt containers and icecream containers can be made into pegs and toothbrush handles.
Did you know that it takes 57 milk bottles to make one of our green recycling bins?

Preparing and Sharing
Today we prepared the food we gathered from our garden yesterday. We made coleslaw from cabbages, carrots, and spring onions. We also cut up some a capsicum for everyone to try.
A group of enthusiastic helpers chopped, sliced, grated, and mixed, before serving coleslaw sandwiches to the school. The coleslaw was a huge hit, with several children coming back for seconds.

Splendid Sunflowers
The Envirogroup planted some sunflower seeds at the end of last year and look at what greeted us when we arrived back at school this year.
A New School Year
Today the Enviroschool group meet for the first time this year. There was a huge turn out of over 30 children who are keen to help with our Enviro garden and keeping our school looking fantastic.
We checked the progress of our crop and have decided to begin the year with a feast. We are going to make coleslaw for lunch on Friday and next week we are going to enjoy some corn on the cob. Yummy!

Christmas Holiday Gardening
The garden still needed some love and attention over the Christmas holidays. Mrs Kitto had two fantastic helpers who spent several hours in the garden, thinning the carrots, watering and weeding.
